- Cover the PIN pad when keying-in your PIN at an ATM or Point of Sale (POS) terminal.
- Do not share your PIN, Card number and Card Verification Value/Code (CVV/CVC) with anyone as this information when shared may be used by scammers to do unauthorized transactions.
- Regularly change PIN, especially when using your Debit/Cash Card Abroad or at other Bank ATMs.
- Do not entertain strangers offering assistance or distracting you while using an ATM.
- Ensure that you have your eyes on your Debit or Cash Card when paying for your purchases at any of our partner merchants, especially in restaurants and gasoline stations.
- Update your contact information with your Branch of Account.
- As much as possible, transact only at your Bank's ATM.
How can i keep my PIN secure? your PIN is the key to your Savings/Current Account, BDO Debit or Cash Cards. You have to ensure at all times that it is not compromised at any point in time.
- Memorize your PIN.
- Never share your PIN with anyone.
- When keying-in your PIN, be sure to cover the PIN pad so it will not seen by anyone.
- Do not write down your PIN on the signature panel of your Debit or Cash Card.
- Do not save your PIN on your mobile phone that does not have without security code or in any way that it can be easily discovered in case your mobile phone is lost or stolen.
How often should i change my PIN? you can change your PIN as many times as you want or as the need arises. When you use your Debit or Cash Card abroad, change your PIN once you come back to the Philippines.
Card Skimming is the illegal copying of information from the magnetic stripe of a Debit Card, Cash Card or Credit Card. It can be perpetrated in retail merchants, restaurants, gas station or anywhere that we use our Debit or Cash Card to pay for a product or service. A syndicate may recruit a staff to skim Debit Card, Cash Card or Credit Card details of any customer by a small, hand-held skimming device. It may also be perpetrated at any Bank's ATM by using a dummy card slot attached to the legitimate card slot of the machine capturing card data, and a pin hole camera or PIN Pad overlay that records that keying-in of PIN.
If you notice any unusual devices attached to an ATM, immediately report it to the concerned Bank. For BDO ATMs, please report it to Customer Contact Center.
