BDO ensures continued banking access in Bogo City to serve affected community

Always finding ways for the community. BDO’s Bogo branch has been providing continuous ATM access to affected residents since the morning after the earthquake.

When a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Bogo City, Cebu, BDO Unibank responded swiftly and now serves as a vital lifeline for Bogo City residents, ensuring they have continued access to cash and other critical banking services during a time of need.

Recounting BDO’s efforts to immediately restore operations in the city, Rene Navarro, Branch Manager of BDO Cebu-Bogo shared that five branch officers dutifully reported to work following the earthquake to provide residents with continuous access to ATM services.

“As early as 8:45 A.M. on October 2, our three onsite ATMs were back online, enabling the people of Bogo to do essential bank transactions, including cash withdrawals, fund transfers, cash advances and more,” Navarro narrated.

As of October 3, two days after the disaster, the BDO Bogo City branch has resumed operations, with shortened banking hours to provide full banking services to its clients.

Navarro shared that clients expressed their gratitude to the bank for finding ways to provide uninterrupted service. All the way from Bateria Daanbantayan, one client said, “Makasalig gyud ka sa BDO kung kinahanglan nimo” (You can really count on BDO in times of need).

Clients without a physical debit card were also able to transact securely using QR code withdrawals and biometric authentication, ensuring both convenience and safety during the recovery efforts.

BDO Senior Vice President and Region Head of Visayas & Mindanao Cyrus M. Polloso shared, “We deeply sympathize with those affected by the Cebu earthquake. At this time, our priority is to ensure that clients can continue to make bank transactions for their immediate needs. This is one of the ways we are helping Cebu communities rebuild and recover from its aftermath.”

BDO’s prompt response during calamities ensures that even in the most challenging times, banking services remain accessible, secure, and responsive to the needs of the Filipino people.
