What is online stock trading?

Online stock trading allows you to buy and sell stocks, online (using the internet) as opposed to the usual method of giving orders through telephone via an actual broker.  This allows you to have real time access to the stock market.

Who is BDO Nomura Securities, Inc.?

BDO Nomura Securities, Inc. is a joint venture between BDO Unibank, Inc. and Nomura Holdings of Japan with the purpose of providing online trading services to BDO's significant client base and branch network.

How to Enroll in BDO Online Banking?

How can I register to BDO Online Banking?
  1. Go to www.bdo.com.ph.
  2. Click on Online Banking Log-in and select “Enroll Now”.
  3. Complete the Online Enrollment Form then click Submit
    • Check the Internet Banking box and please remember your ATM Activation Code in the acknowledgment page
      The Code will be used to activate your Internet Banking account using your BDO ATM Debit Card.
  4. Activate your account at any BDO ATM within 45 days.
  5. In the ATM, press “Other Services”.
  6. Select “Activate Electronic Banking”.
  7. Enter the ATM Activation Code then press “Confirm”.
  8. Choose receipt option.
  9. Enter your PIN.
  10. Get the transaction receipt.
  11. Access your BDO Online Banking account 24 hours from ATM activation.
How do I open a BDO Nomura Online Trading Account?

1. Go to www.bdo.com.ph/bdonomura and click open an account

2. Log-in using your BDO Online Baking Username and Password, type in OTP received from SMS or via OTP Generator

3. Read and tick “I agree” to Terms & Conditions and Instruction and Consent forms and choose your BDO Beneficiary account

4. Fill out Investor Profile, Suitability Forms, and complete by typing the captcha code and then submit

5. Review application and click “confirm”

You will be redirected to a Thank you page as proof of submission. And will be informed that approval will be sent via email.

 

Who is qualified to open a BDO Nomura account?

Any person at least 18 years old and with BDO Online Banking account can apply for a BDO Nomura Trading account.

Is there a maintaining balance of the account?

No, there is no maintaining balance needed.

How will I know if my application was approved and I’m now ready to trade?

You will receive an account approval via email containing your Customer Code and your BDO Nomura Settlement Account Number.

What log-in and password should I use?

Use your BDO Online Banking Username and Password to log-in to BDO Nomura online trading account

Can I open a Joint Trading Account?

No, only single account opening is allowed in our Online Trading facility as of the moment. 

Can I open a Sole Proprietorship Account?

No, not at the moment.

Maintaining My Account

What if I forgot my username or password?

Go to https://online.bdo.com.ph for your user ID or password reset.

This is applicable to BDO Online Banking user IDs which are not yet locked.

For accounts that are already locked, please call BDO Customer Contact Center to request for a password reset. The client will have to undergo a positive identification process.

How do I unlock my BDO Nomura Trading Account?

Your BDO Nomura Online Account login is the same with your BDO Online Banking login. To unlock your account: Go to www.bdo.com.ph. Click on the online banking login, then select “Account is locked”;

Can I change my registered email address and/or my registered mobile number?

The email address and your mobile number registered in your BDO Online Banking Account shall be followed.

If you wish to change your email address and mobile number, kindly follow the steps below:

  1. Login to BDO Online Banking, go to “Profile Maintenance” > “Customer Information” > “Update Customer Information”.
  2. Delete your old email address or your mobile number and enter your new one in the appropriate field.
  3. Click “Update” then “OK”.
  4. An approval code will be sent to your previously registered email address.
  5. Check your email and take note of the approval code provided.
  6. Go back to your BDO Online Banking account and click on the “Approval Code” icon (green checkmark) found on the upper right side of the screen.
  7. Click on the “Input Code” icon (pencil) and enter the approval code sent to your email or mobile to successfully update your email address and your registered mobile number.

Once your desired email address is already reflected in your Online Banking account, take a screenshot of it then attach it to your email request to bnsupport@bdonomura.com.ph.

Can I change my other personal information (aside from my registered email address / mobile number)?

Yes, the personal information maintained in your Branch of Account shall be followed.

 

If you wish to change your personal information, kindly proceed to your Branch of Account for updating of your personal records. 

Funding and Withdrawal

What is a BDO Nomura Beneficiary Account?

A Beneficiary Account is the deposit account (Savings or Checking Account) where your sale of shares proceeds will be credited upon withdrawal.

What is a BDO Nomura Settlement Account?

A BDO Nomura Settlement Account is the exclusive deposit account for your BDO Nomura transactions. It is the account that you need to fund for your buying power, to be debited for all your equities purchases and for other fees and charges and to be credited for all your sales proceeds, cash dividends and other credit balances.

Do I need to fund my account before I can start trading?

Yes, you need to fund your BDO Nomura Settlement Account before you start trading 

How do I deposit funds to my BDO Nomura Online Trading settlement account?

       • Log-in to your online trading account and click Cash Deposit in your dashboard. Deposited amount is credited automatically to your BDO Nomura Settlement Account.

 

***Please be informed that you will not be able to access the Deposit function at 11:45PM until 2:30AM (Philippines GMT+8), Mondays to Fridays, due to daily system maintenance.

How do I withdraw funds from my BDO Nomura Online Trading account?

• Log-in to your online trading account and click Withdrawal in your dashboard. Withdrawn amount is credited automatically to your Beneficiary Account.

How do I transfer my stockholdings from my current broker to BDO Nomura Securities, Inc.?

You need to fill out and submit a signed Securities Instruction Form from your current broker and a copy of your 2 valid IDs. Securities Instruction Forms are available upon request. Please contact BDO Nomura Sales Support or send your request to bnsupport@bdonomura.com.ph.

A transfer fee of P84/stock/transfer will be charged and this can be debited from your BDO Nomura Settlement account.

How do I deposit/ lodge my existing stock certificate/s to BDO Nomura Securities, Inc.?

Submit the duly signed/endorsed original stock certificate/s, together with a photocopy of your 2 valid and unexpired government-issued IDs, originally signed specimen signature card per stock/company and a signed Securities Instruction form to the address below:

Your account will be charged a lodgement fee of P100.00/stock plus P20.00 cancellation fee/certificate. There would be an additional 12% VAT charge for non-bank transfer offices. We will debit your BDO Nomura Settlement account for the Lodgement fees.

How long does Lodgement process take to be completed?

The lodgement process normally take at least one week to be completed. In some instances, personal appearance might be required by the transfer office. Once cleared, your stockholdings will be reflected in your portfolio. 

Can I withdraw/ uplift my stockholdings from BDO Nomura Securities, Inc.?

Submit a signed Securities Instruction form together with a photocopy of your 2 valid and unexpired government-issued IDs and originally signed specimen signature card per stock/company to the address below:

Upliftment fee of P250.00 will be charged per certificate and an additional P200.00 courier fee for provincial mailing address. Fees will be debited on your BDO Nomura Settlement Account.

How long does Upliftment process take to be completed?

The upliftment process normally takes at least a month to be completed. In some instances, personal appearance might be required by the transfer office. Once ready, the stock certificate/s will be delivered to your registered mailing address unless specified otherwise. 

Where will my cash dividends or selling proceeds go?

Your cash dividends or selling proceeds will automatically be credited to your assigned BDO Nomura Settlement Account.

Trading & Fees

What are the PSE Trading Hours?

Trading hours are from 9:30 A.M. To 3:30 P.M., Monday thru Friday, except on legal holidays.

What types of order are allowed?

Only Limit Orders are accepted by the system. A Limit Order is an order entered with a specified price and volume.

What types of order validity are allowed?

The following validity types will be made available:

  • Day Order (Day) - Orders that remain valid until the end of the Trading day
  • Good Till Cancelled (GTC) - Orders that will remain valid until cancelled by the User or until it reached the set expiration date of the instrument.
  • Good Till Date (GTD) - Orders that remain valid until the date specified when the Order is entered.
  • Fill-and-Kill Order (FAK) - Referred as "Execute-and-Eliminate Orders". Any remaining unexecuted portion of a FAK order is eliminated.

 

 

What is Board Lot?

Any amount of shares wholly divisible by a minimum board lot is considered Board Lot.

What is Odd Lot?

Any amount of shares not wholly divisible by a minimum board lot is considered an Odd Lot. (e.g. 1 share of BDO Unibank is an oddlot while 10 shares is board lot given the price of Php 132.00 per share)

Is there a limit to the amount I can trade?

Yes, there is a limit to the amount you can trade. For Buying orders, you are limited to the amount available in your account balance. For Selling orders, you can only sell stocks that are in your portfolio inventory.

What is buying power?

It is the net amount that a client can use to buy new or additional share of stocks. This will be displayed and adjusted every time you post an order. 

Can I place an order through email?

No, orders cannot be placed using email.

Where do I view my order?

Log-in to online trading and click on Order Book to check orders

Can I revise or cancel an order?

Yes, orders can be revised or cancelled as long as they are not filled. If an order is partially filled, only the unfilled portion can be revised or cancelled.

Can I sell my stocks on the same day that I bought them?

Yes, all stocks you have bought are reflected in your portfolio and are ready for sale anytime.

Can I sell a stock and use its proceeds to buy another stock during the same day?

Yes, the proceeds of your selling transaction are automatically reflected in your buying power. You may use this to buy another stock anytime

Can I place orders during off-hours?

Yes, you may enter orders during off-hours.

Orders made during Market Recess (12:00 N.N. - 1:30 P.M.) are still sent to the PSE and will be reflected as soon as the market resumes.  While orders made after Market Close are for posting as soon as the market opens the next trading day.

What fees does BDO Nomura charge?

For BUY transactions:

a. Securities Clearing Corporation of the Philippines (SCCP) fee – 0.010% of the gross amount

b. Broker's commission - 0.25% of the gross amount

c. Value Added Tax (VAT) – 12% of the broker's commission

 

 For SELL transactions:

a. Securities Clearing Corporation of the Philippines (SCCP) fee – 0.010% of the gross amount

b. Broker's commission - 0.25% of the gross amount

c. Value Added Tax (VAT) – 12% of the broker's commission

d. Sales Tax - 0.60% of the gross selling amount

 

Minimum Commission charge is P20.00 or 0.25% of trade value whichever is higher. This computation is not reflected during trading but rather shall be applied during the End of Day process.

Do you have any monthly fee charges?

No, we do not charge any monthly fee.

Do you offer margin trading?

Development is still in progress.

Do you offer dollar denominated stocks?

Yes, we do.

Where can I see your recommended stocks?

Click the Market Research icon in your dashboard when you are logged-in the trading page.  A sample report is available in www.bdo.com.ph/bdonomura under Market Research menu.

Why are my orders rejected?

Orders may be rejected due to the following reasons:

a. Insufficient cash to process a Buy order
b. Insufficient stock positions to process a Sell order
c. the stock may be suspended
d. the stock price is not within the allowed threshold or fluctuation
e. the number of shares is not wholly divisible by the required lot size

Are there risks involved in online equities trading?

How do I make a reservation for the upcoming IPOs?

Click the IPO icon in your dashboard when you are logged-in your trading page.

What is clear fund?

It’s a cash free from any blocks or obligation against any settlement.

What is T+3 settlement?

Transaction date plus three (3) trading days. 

What is Static Price?

Price limitation set by the Exchange which is based on the 50% below or above the closing price.

What is Dynamic Price?

Price limitation set by the Exchange which is based on the 10% below or above of the last traded price.

 

What is the withholding tax rate on cash dividends?

Cash dividends received from Domestic Corporations are subject to 10% withholding tax rate for Filipino citizens and Resident Aliens.  Resident Aliens are foreigners residing in the Philippines. 

Non-resident Aliens or Foreign clients not residing in the Philippines may be subjected to a higher withholding tax rates depending on Tax Treaties existing between country of residence and the Philippines.

 

Cash dividends received from Non-Domestic Corporations like Sunlife and Manulife are subject to 15% withholding rate for all clients.

 

What is ex-dividend date?

Means the date set by the Exchange starting from which the buyer is no longer entitled to the dividends. Currently set at 3 business days before the record date.

What is record date?

Means the date on which stockholders must officially own shares in order to be entitled to any shareholders rights or dividends.

What is failed trade?

Also known as failed transaction. A securities transaction that does not settle on the contractual settlement date.

What is floor price?

Also known as floor range. Means the lowest selling price which is set that is not more than 50% below the last closing price.

What is Trading Band?

Means the allowable price range for regular buy or sell orders; from the highest buying price (ceiling) and the lowest selling price (floor) on a particular day.

What is Trading Halt?

Means the temporary stoppage or suspension of the trading of a listed security or suspension of trading in the Exchange.
