The
84th Survey on Investment Performance
of Retirement Funds in the Philippines, recently
released by Watson Wyatt Philippines, showed
BDO Trust taking the top rank in all three measures
of performance as follows:
1) the full year 2005 with an average return of 16.75% p.a.
2) the last three years with an average return of 14.88% p.a. and
3) the last five years with average return of 14.68% p.a.
This ranking covered All Trusteed Funds using the marked to market valuation methodology as required by IAS. Funds that use the accrual method (not IAS compliant) were not included in this ranking.
This survey is particularly significant to BDO-Trust because it shows that over the last five years that it has been enrolled in the Wyatt Survey, BDO-Trust was able to perform well relative to its peers as a fund manager despite a multiplicity of investment scenarios through the years. In the field of investments, it is very difficult for a fund manager to be constantly topping fund performance surveys since the conditions and events by which investment decisions are made may not hold true all the time or in fact even change course. Topping the three measures indicates the consistency and sustainability of BDO's performance over the years.
The survey covers one hundred sixty one (161) funds from one hundred twenty four (124) companies. The total plan assets surveyed amount to Php 37 billion with an average fund size of Php 230 million each. The plan assets were managed by 12 trustee banks and one investment house.
